Saudi Arabia lifts vaccine mandate for Umrah pilgrims

Saudi officials have issued new statement regarding the conditions for Umrah, minor Hajj, lifting the vaccination mandate for pilgrims.


In their latest announcement regarding the conditions for Hajj pilgrims, Saudi officials have permitted those who have not received all doses of COVID vaccine to attend the minor Hajj ceremony and participation in the rituals held in the holy mosques in Mecca and Medina, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
According to the announcement, the unvaccinated pilgrims and those who have not received all doses will be allowed to attend the al Haram Mosque in Mecca and Masjid al Nabawi in Medina.
 
Saudi paper Okaz reported that according to the latest statement by Hajj officials those not infected with COVID-19 or have not contacted with COVID patients are allowed to attend the Umrah and communal prayers held at the holy mosques.
 
Since the outbreak of the pandemic infection, Hajj pilgrimage has been held under certain restrictions regarding the number of pilgrims, COVID test results and the health protocols to attend the annual pilgrimage.
