The President of the UN International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) appreciated Iran over its fight against drug trafficking.
Eskandar Momeni has attended the 63rd annual meeting of the commission of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) kicked off on Monday in Vienna, the European Headquarters of the UN.
Eskandar Momeni for his part stressed Iran's cooperation with the UN and the relevant departments, warning about the increasing production and trafficking of Methamphetamine from Afghanistan.
Still, Momeni met with Alexander Koenig, Director General of Austria's Prison Service, and pointed out that the European countries must beware of the fact that Iran fought against narcotics on behalf of the international community.
Alexander Koenig highlighted the importance of Iran's international counter-narcotics actions, noting that the international community must have an appropriate understanding of the status quo and assist Iran.
The 63rd annual meeting of the commission of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) kicked off on Monday in Vienna and is underway until Friday.
In his lecture at the meeting, Iran's Momeni called for dismantling the financial resources of drug traffickers, proposing the use of the existing capacities to track their fund bases.
According to the UNODC, the Islamic Republic's continuous efforts to combat narcotics trafficking came up with the seizure of more than 90 percent of opium, 70 percent of morphine, and 20 percent of world heroin.
