Members of Baitul Kareem Mosque in Cambridge Ontario have held rally on the first day of Ramadan to urge for peace.
Participants began towards Eliot Street holding placards in condemnation of war and demanded promotion of peace.
The event was held on the first day of Ramadan as the participants were fasting.
Nabeel Ra'ana from Beitul Kareem Mosque noted that Muslims make use of the opportunity in Ramadan 2022 to hold special prayers for the war-stricken people.
The rally is part of a bigger campaign which helps the Ukraine war refugees.
Karen Redman, Regional Chair of the Waterloo Region, Kathryn McGarry, mayor of Cambridge and mark Crowell, chief of police also joined the rally.
Kathryn McGarry said she was proud of supporting the Muslim society and added," Muslim community is truly doing anything to lift the spirits and promote peace."
