The presidents of Iran and Tajikistan during a phone call stressed the need for coordination between the two countries to ensure security in the region.
Iran was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of the Tajik government and was the first country to establish an embassy in Dushanbe.
No country has as close ties to Tajikistan as the Islamic Republic of Iran because of the racial, historical, cultural, religious and linguistic affinities of the two countries.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, also chose Tajikistan as the destination of his first foreign trip.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran in a telephone call with the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon congratulated the government and people of Tajikistan on Eid al-Fitr and said:
"Security and prosperity of the people of Tajikistan is the security and prosperity of the people of Iran."
Emphasizing the need to develop security coordination between Iran and Tajikistan, Raisi added: "Iran is concerned about the security situation in the region, especially in Afghanistan."
Expressing satisfaction with the expanding economic relations between the two countries, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran invited the President of Tajikistan to visit Iran and said that this visit would be effective in improving the level of bilateral and regional interactions between Tehran and Dushanbe.
The President of Tajikistan also appreciated the invitation of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to visit Tehran and congratulated the Iranian nation and government on the arrival of Eid al-Fitr.
