The top diplomat stated: "It is not acceptable for the Islamic Republic of Iran that our friendly and neighboring country take measures in the field of dam construction. The environment of the region will face problems and create problems for our people and the region, and on the other hand, it will have a negative impact on the river discharge."
Amir-Abdollahian stressed: "In the last eight months, I have talked about this at least twice in person and several times by telephone with the Turkish Foreign Minister, and it was decided to form a joint water committee between the two countries."
The Iranian FM added: "Turkey said they do not need the water at all, and they will store it in winter and release it in summer."
He added: "In the last three months, a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Energy went to Turkey, and a Turkish delegation is scheduled to arrive in Tehran soon."
