Custodian of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine said researchers and scientists from across the globe will have access to the rich sources in the Central Library of the shrine.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Ahmad Marvi, delivering speech at the opening ceremony of the huge treasure of written works belonging to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) said the rich source of books and references at the Central Library of Imam Reza (AS) shrine will be available for the researchers and scientists from across the globe.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Marvi said: “All holy shrines' previous endeavors in the areas of books, library, and preservation of Shia heritage during past years will come to fruition by opening this new hall”.
According to the cleric the first endowment of the holy complex was related to book and library. Based on this endowment, one of the salient rulers of Isfahan endowed a manuscript to shrine of Imam Reza (AS) around one thousand and one hundred years ago. The library and book repository of the holy shrine was formed about eight centuries ago.
The custodian went on to say: “Formation of such a unique library in Imam Reza shrine carries this message that the Islamic civilization is based on books, culture, science and knowledge”.
He further noted: “All modern tools, facilities and technologies should be used to help world scholars benefit from this great heritage and valuable library”.
Concluding his remarks, Hujjat-ul-Islam Marvi said: “Providing necessary grounds for enjoyment of world people promotes not only science and knowledge but also Ahlul Bayt (AS) school of thought”.
Experts estimate that the new hall will have a storage capacity of up to 100 million sources including press archives, documents, manuscripts and lithographs, print, and museum resources for the next 50 years.
A number of national and provincial officials including the head of Ayatollah Khamenei’s office attended the opening ceremony of the Central Library of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine.
