The head of Iran's Department of Environment stressed the need to implement the Iran-Iraq Memorandum of Understanding to control dust.

According to a map of fine dust on the Barcelona World Site, the recent dust mass first covered large parts of Iraq and Syria and then entered Iran.
Sandstorms and dust storms have killed scores of people in parts of Syria and Iraq, and sent thousands to hospitals due to respiratory problems.
In Iran, some cities were closed due to dust.
Ali Salajegheh, the head of Iran's Department of Environment, met with Iraqi Interior Minister Othman al-Ghanmi in Baghdad, adding: "Historical events have shown that only countries in the region can help each other in crises."
"The friendship between Iran and Iraq can be an example of successful cooperation between neighboring countries.” added he.

Ali Salajegheh stated: "Today, the region and the world are suffering from climate disorder, which results in the creation of fine dust for the entire region, and according to Iran's studies and experiences in the field of combating desertification, the transfer of Iranian experiences to Iraq in this field is important."
The Iraqi Interior Minister also said that there is a crisis on water, desertification and food security in Iraq, adding: "The current Iraqi government, which is the government of progress, is trying to resolve environmental crises in order to serve the people."
