Iran-Iraq determined to provide health services to Arbaeen pilgrims

6 Jun 2022 - 16:29

Iran's Minister of Health Bahram Eynollahi met with Iraqi officials to finalize health arrangements to provide high-quality health services to Arbaeen pilgrims.

Exchanging professors and students, activating previous agreements between the two countries, boosting cooperation in the field of health and disease control, creating a common market for health-oriented products and finally calling for removing obstacles to the development of cooperation in customs and export licenses, were among other issues raised in the meeting between Iran's high-ranking official with Iraqi officials.

Arbaeen marks the 40th day that followed the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam, and his 72-strong companions in the Battle of Karbala, in what is now southern Iraq, in 680 AD. The battle featured an unjust fight between Imam Hussein (AS) and his army and the hugely outnumbered army of the Umayyad Caliph of the time, Yazid I.

During his visit to Iraq, which was aimed at opening the way for the Arbaeen pilgrims after a three-year hiatus due to the corona outbreak, Iran's Minister of Health announced the finalization of the health instructions for the Arbaeen rituals which serves as good news for the large presence of the lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) in the holy shrines.
During his visit to Iraq, Dr. Bahram Einollahi met with Iraqi officials and attended a meeting of the Arbaeen headquarters to finalize the health arrangements designed to facilitate the pilgrimage of Arbaeen Hosseini.
He stressed the need to provide quality health services to Arbaeen pilgrims this year at the meeting of the Arbaeen headquarters and reminded that the doctors who will take this spiritual march this year to provide health services to the pilgrims, would enjoy privileges.
The coincidence of this year's Arbaeen ceremony with the summer season and the probable heat exhaustion of the pilgrims is one of the issues that the Ministry of Health is focusing on so that necessary predictions have been made in this regard to provide welfare and health services appropriate to the air temperature in order to prevent the pilgrims from suffering from.
