International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) has issued a statement calling on Islamic countries to take unified stance against desecration of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) by Indian officials.
The union of Muslim scholars has stressed importance of defending Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as a religious mission and urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to hold meeting and take legal measures to prevent desecration of Islamic sanctities, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Part of the statement signed by Ahmad al-Raysuni, President and Ali al-Qaradaghi, Secretary General of the IUMS reads," What the ruling party in India is doing against Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and stemming the Islamic civilization is a crime which should be denounced by all people."
The Union of Muslim Scholars has urged world Muslims to hold peaceful demonstrations in front of Indian embassies and BJP bureaus across the globe to condemn the desecration of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), abuse of Muslims, limitations imposed on freedom of religions and also revival of discrimination against Muslims.
IUMS has expressed concern over the ongoing issues in the Indian peninsula from the plight of Muslims in Rohingya to abuse of Muslims in India.
"These measures show that the discriminatory ruling party in India intends to uproot Muslims in the country" ran part of the statement and added," This is while during nine centuries of Muslim reign in India all people have been free to practice their religions since a great part of the population in India comprises non-Muslims and followers of different religions."
International Union of Muslim Scholars reiterated all out support for the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) and Islamic sanctities as a religious mission for world Muslims and stressed," This is a responsibility for the leaders and politicians to warn the ruling party and government in India over the repercussions of the shameful behavior."
It also demanded the media to reveal the ongoing discrimination against Islam, Muslims and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in India.
"it is a mission for the advocates, both in India and in other countries, to refer such cases to the international courts in order to receive preventive sentences for the Indian government and introduce the administration as a racist government in regards to the Muslims in the country."
The International Union of Muslim Scholars called for official apology by Indian government over atrocities against Muslims and warned of sanctions if the discriminatory behaviors continue.
"IUMS calls on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take necessary measures against those desecrating Prophet of Islam and hold meeting to legalize preventive measures against sacrilege of Islamic sanctities" concluded the statement.
International Union of Muslim Scholars issued the statement following a much controversial television debate in which the spokeswoman of ruling BJP expressed insulting remarks against Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and his household while another member of the party Naveen Kumar Jindal tweeted a post desecrating the prophet of Islam.
The move has drawn much reaction from Muslim nations and governments across the globe and Indian government suspended the spokeswoman Sharma and expelled Jindal.
