Taghribnews (TNA) - Iran, India affirms boosting bilateral cooperation

As part of continued contacts and political consultations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of India, Ali Bagheri Kani, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for political affairs, held a phone conversation with the Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra on Tuesday morning.

They referred to the frequent visits by high-ranking officials from the two countries and described the current relations between the two states as uniquely friendly.

During the talks, the two diplomats also exchanged views on ways to advance bilateral cooperation, including in the fields of trade, investment, Ports, and transportation routes, as well as regional cooperation in providing assistance to the Afghan people, consolidating security and stability in the region through fighting terrorism and drug trafficking, holding sessions of the Joint Economic Commission and boosting the level of interactions in political arenas.
Among other notable topics on the agenda of the talks were a removal by India of the restrictions existing on the path of commercial exchanges and completion of the project of Chabahar — as the center point of the region’s ports and transportation routes — and facilitating India’s aid delivery to the Afghan people through Iran in addition to mutual cooperation on multilateral international fronts, such as the United Nations and regional or subject-oriented bodies like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS.
Meanwhile, the Iranian deputy foreign minister briefed the Indian side on the latest positive measures and steps taken by the Islamic Republic in the process of the talks aimed at securing a removal of the cruel American sanctions imposed on Iran.
The two sides agreed to keep up their consultations in the course of future visits by officials of the two countries and mutual talks.
