The new Kiswa (curtain) for holy Ka’aba will be installed on the first day of Muharram, July 30th, which will mark the first day of the new year according to Islamic lunar calendar.
The new curtain for holy Ka’aba which used to be installed on the Day of Arafah every year is prepared and will be put in place on the first day of the new year, as decided by the guardianship of the holy mosque, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The new curtain is ready two weeks ahead of the new year.
The drape is woven with 670 kilograms of silk, 120 kilograms of gold and 100 kilograms of silver.
Guardians set up a new section at workshop for weaving the Kiswah and permit the Hajj pilgrims to sew the curtain. The move has reportedly been welcomed by pilgrims.
