During his joint presser with Iran's foreign minister, the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs said Syria is ready to defend its sovereignty and security and is not going to desist about it.
Faisal Mekdad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria, while attending a joint press conference with Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, said: "I am very happy to be in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and President Bashar Assad asked me to convey his greetings to the leader of Iran and Mr. Raisi."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria added: "My presence in Tehran after the Astana Summit was not far off, and I would like to emphasize that we are satisfied with Iran's efforts to make a final statement on the territorial integrity and independence of Syria."
Mekdad said: "Being present in Syria is not beneficial either for Türkiye or other countries. During the joint cooperation, the economy of Syria and Türkiye grew, but interference in internal affairs and sending hundreds of terrorists prevented the continuation of this process."
He said: "Today, we discussed with our brothers in Tehran about various issues and what is happening in the region. The presence of the US in eastern Syria creates danger and we do not allow any party to enter Syrian lands."
The top diplomat stated: "There is no justification for depending on foreigners and what is happening in the north-east of Syria is in conflict with the wishes of the Syrian people."
MeKdad stressed: "Our nation is suffering from sanctions. Sanctions imposed on Iran, Syria, Russia and China deprive them of their rights."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria added: "We and Iran are standing by the Palestinian nation side, but the one that does not want peace is Israeli regime."
