Iran's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali and the aide to the Russian president Igor Levitin met and discussed the expansion of Tehran-Moscow cooperation in the field of rail, road, and sea transportation.

Iran's ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali, in a meeting with Igor Levitin, the aide to the President of Russia, pointed out the serious attention of the presidents of the two countries to the development of the north-south corridor, including the electrification of the Garmsar-Inche-Broun railway and Russia's participation in the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway within the framework of this international corridor, and emphasized on the implementation of agreements between the two countries as soon as possible.

The aide to the President of Russia also emphasized the importance of Iran in reaching the target countries such as India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and North Africa through the international North-South corridor.
The North-South Corridor has replaced the 16,000-kilometer distance of transporting goods through the Suez Canal with a 7,000-kilometer route, which will result in a 40% reduction in the time it takes to transport goods to their destination and a 30% reduction in transportation costs.
