The US imposed sanctions on 22 individuals and two entities for facilitating Russia’s war on Ukraine, the Treasury Department said Thursday.
The sanctions include multiple individuals who have furthered Moscow's objectives in Ukraine before and during Russia’s military operations in Ukraine.
"Also included among those being designated is Task Force Rusich, a neo-Nazi paramilitary group that has participated in combat alongside Russia’s military in Ukraine, as well as two of its senior leaders," it said in a statement.
"As Ukraine presses forward with defending its freedom, today we’re taking steps to further degrade Russia’s ability to rebuild its military, hold perpetrators of violence accountable, and further financially isolate Putin," said Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
The agency said the measures are being taken in coordination with the Commerce Department, which is imposing additional export control measures to further align with partners and allies, as well as by the State Department which is targeting Russia’s defense and high-technology industries.
