Thirty Palestinian administrative detainees have continued their open-ended hunger strike on Saturday to protest their illegal administrative detention for the seventh consecutive day.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) pointed out that more prisoners are expected to join the striking prisoners over the next days.
 
28 hunger strikers are held in Ofer prison, while two others are held in the Negev and Hadarim prisons.
 
The PPS also pointed out that the Israeli prison administration started threatening to impose punitive measures against the striking prisoners, including solitary confinement, denying family visits, and frequent transfer.
 
There are currently more than 760 Palestinian prisoners jailed under administrative detention orders out of a total of approximately 4,650 Palestinian inmates held in Israeli jails.
 
Administrative detention is a detention without charge or trial. It is based on a secret file that neither the detainee nor his lawyer have has access to.
 
According to the military orders of the occupation, an administrative detention order can be renewed unlimited times, for a maximum renewable period of six months.
 
For decades, Israel has intentionally used administrative detention to detain individuals, including prisoners of conscience held solely for exercising their rights to freedom of expression, assembly and association, to punish them for their views and activism.
