Secretary General of Iran’s World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has hailed the recent proposal made by Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb for intra-Muslim dialogue inviting the senior Sunni scholar to visit Iran for the same end.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, in an interview with Beirut-based satellite channel al-Mayadeen, invited the mufti of al-Azhar university to visit Iran following the Egyptian scholar’s proposal for Shia-Sunni dialogue, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Iranian cleric in a reaction to Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayyeb’s call for dialogue between Islamic denominations with the aim of foiling plots and settling sectarian disagreements said,” Security and peace should prevail the world of Islam and these two achievements are resulted by intra-Muslim dialogue.”
Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought called on al-Azhar grand mufti to visit Iran in a bid to found the first basis of Islamic dialogue and voiced preparation of the Iranian Islamic unity center to visit Cairo for promoting intra-Muslim dialogue.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari added,” Inviting professor of al-Azhar will raise special issues to the equation since we can resist against hostile plots promoted by enemies of Islam.”
Top cleric concluded,” Iran voices support for any call, even annual invitations, for unity in the world of Islam.”
Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought made the comments in an interview with al-Mayadeen.
