Iran slams Australia for baseless comments on human rights

16 Nov 2022 - 17:57

Nasser Kanaani, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to the Australian Prime Minister's remarks regarding Iran's unrest, said: "It seems that the Australian Prime Minister has taken a wrong approach based on false information, which does not help the ties between the two countries."

Kanaani noted: "Australia, with its challenging human rights cases, from the murder of asylum seekers to the murder of 500 aboriginals in the country's prisons and the prohibition of professional research in these cases, lacks the minimum moral legitimacy to talk about human rights."
Kanaani also considered sheltering terrorist and separatist groups and silence in the face of the brutal terrorist attack on Shahcheragh shrine by the Australian government as a sign of double standards towards human rights and added: In this regard, the Australian ambassador has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and necessary warnings have been sent to Canberra through him.
