The Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran spokesman announced the discovery of more than 29,000 unauthorized weapons and shotguns in the country since the beginning of this year.
Emphasizing that with the investigations conducted, it has been found out that weapons and ammunition were smuggled through the northwestern, western and southern borders of the country, the official stated: Based on the obtained statistics as well as operational information that our colleagues have gained throughout the country, especially the border guard command of the Islamic Republic of Iran, since the beginning of this year (march 21, 2022) to November 21 of this year), more than 29,000 unauthorized shotguns and different kinds of weapons have been discovered, which shows an 11% increase compared to the same period last year.
Hajian said: "A large number of these people who were active in gangs in the country were arrested and handed over to judicial authorities."
The senior police official stated that most of the weapons and ammunition are imported into the country from the borders of West Azerbaijan, Kermanshah, Kurdistan and the southern provinces, and noted that during the last two months (this year), 8,000 weapons were discovered and the people who intended to bring weapons and ammunition into the country illegally were arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities.
