Perpetrators behind assassination of Iranian Sunni cleric in Sistan and Baluchistan, Molavi Abdulvahed Rigi have been arrested, Intelligence Ministry has confirmed on Tuesday.

Intelligence Ministry in its statement said three of the key elements behind assassination of senior Sunni cleric Molavi Abdulvahed Rigi were identified and detained in a joint operation with the police command in Sistan and Baluchistan.
 
The detention has reportedly happened following unrelenting observation of the intelligence forces in the General Intelligence Administration of Iranian southeastern province.
 
The terrorists were planning to escape from the country after the assassination of the cleric but failed to carry out their plan due to immediate action by the police and intelligence forces.

 Molavi Abdulvahed Rigi was the Friday prayer leader of Imam Hussein Mosque in Khash city and one of the famous Sunni clerics in Sistan-Baluchestan province.
Molavi Rigi was kidnapped by unknown individuals on Thursday and his dead body was found on the roadside in Khash County.

In an earlier meeting with delegation of the Supreme Leader visiting Sistan and Baluchistan Province, the Sunni cleric had notified of threats by anti-Revolution groups.
