Shahi Masjid (Shahi Mosque) in Handia area of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh has been demolished by Indian authorities under the pretext of road construction.
Footage video has gone viral on social media showing demolition of 16th-century Shahi Mosque in Uttar Pradesh in order to widen the road, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
India police has issued a statement regarding construction project carried out by the organization of roads and urbanization in Handia on the way of which lays a mosque dating back to five centuries ago.
Local media reported that the judiciary had issued orders for halting the demolition process of the 16th-century mosque, as a result of complaints lodged by the people.
The Supreme Court, however, dismissed the plea for halt of the demolition claiming that the mosque had been illegally built.
