Displaced Syrians in refugee camps suffering harsh winter cold

18 Jan 2023 - 15:12

Nearly two million Syrian refugees are suffering from bitter winter cold in the northern parts of the country.

The displaced Syrians live in tents that barely protect them from extreme conditions in Idlib, with temperatures falling as low as minus ten degrees Celsius.

Nearly two million Syrians continue to live in displacement camps in Idlib, near the Turkish border, where they lack the basic essentials for a decent life.

Muhammad Khaled, 73, lives in Ain Al-Bayda camp in Idlib. In an interview with Turkish news agency Anadolu, he said that the winter is very difficult because the refugees lack food and heating facilities.

Some refugees collect firewood from the surrounding areas for heating and the others keep their children warm only with blankets.
