Israeli regime has announced its decision on extending the administrative detention of Palestinian cancer-stricken prisoner Abdul-Basset Mi’taan despite his worsening health situation.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Palestinian Prisoner Society said that prisoner Mi’taan suffers from a continuous decrease in weight, while the Israeli prison service is reluctant to provide him with medical treatment.
Since his detention, Mi’taan was transferred twice to a hospital, where a doctor told him that he had a mass on his lung following a chest X-ray and medical tests.
He had undergone several surgeries before his last arrest, during which a part of his colon was removed. Later, doctors found that there were still cancerous cells in his body that were likely to spread.
Three months after his release from an Israeli jail, the Israeli occupation forces kidnaped Mi’taan from his home in July 2022 with no regard for his serious health condition.
Last August, the Israeli military court in Ofer jail ordered the administrative detention of Mi’taan for six months.
