A delegation of the United Nations in Iraq visited the holy shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS) in Karbala and hailed its high potentials in the field of industry and agriculture.
The director of energy programs at the United Nations Development Program in Iraq, Mohammed al-Attar, hailed the projects at the holy shrine of Hazrat Abbas and also its high capacity for education, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Al Attar referred to the medical, educational, agricultural and industrial projects and said,” We discussed the ways for expanding mutual cooperation and exchanging international experiences in special projects for renewable energy, environment and weather.”
The financing advisor at the United Nations Development Fund, Tariq Mufleh, said the delegation was proud of the holy shrine achievements in the field of education, medicine and renewable energies.
The delegation expressed hope that constructive cooperation with the holy shrine of Hazrat Abbas will benefit Iraq.
Hazrat Abbas is half-brother and closest companion to Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam and much favored hero of Karbala among the Shias. He was martyred together with his brother and other companions of Imam Hussein (AS) in the Battle of Karbala back in 680 AD. His shrine is near the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in the Iraqi city of Karbala.
