Taghribnews (TNA) - UN hails Iran Leader's pardon

The Head of the UN General Assembly praised the general pardon of the Iranian prisoners issued by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Following the recent unrest in the country, the police arrested a number of those who rioted, damaged public property, and killed people, including the police and other security forces.

On the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the month of Rajab, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei agreed to commute the sentences of a vast majority of those accused and convicted of the recent riots.
Unrest and brawls were instigated under the pretext of Mahsa Amini, 22, who died due to a sudden heart attack in a police center in Tehran on Tuesday, September 13, after being taken there for violation of dress codes along with some other women.
The rioters even attack ambulances and set fire to them.
Korosi also appreciated Iran for hosting more than five million Afghan nationals despite the challenges it was dealing with.
