The Chief Executive Officer at Royal Commission for Mecca and Holy Sites, announced more than seven million pilgrims performed Umrah in the first ten days of the fasting month of Ramadan.
Salih alRasheed, in a post on his Twitter account, said 7,400,000 Umrah pilgrims have performed Umrah in the first ten days of Ramadan 2023, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He added that the pilgrims from different countries received special hospitality services and unparalleled transportation.
The services have reportedly helped a great number of Muslims to easily perform the rituals.
Expansion of al-Haram Mosque will facilitate admission of more pilgrims and worshipers.
The third expansion project of al-Haram Mosque is the greatest in the history of the mosque covering the northern wing of the holy site.
The project was introduced in 2008 and the functional phase began in 2010.
The space for this phase of the mosque is nearly 1.470 million meters and has a capacity of 850 worshipers. The capacity of the al-Haram Mosque will reach 3,000 worshipers and 107,000 people can simultaneously perform circumambulation.
