Iranian President in his joint presser with his Iraqi counterpart on Saturday stressed that US presence in the region would be considered as a threat to regional security.
Iran's President further added that the level of Iran's trade and economic relations is more than ten billion dollars in worth, but it can be improved if the two countries agree on it.
President Raisi noted that the relations between the two countries will continue in the field of infrastructure, water, electricity and energy so that the existing needs from the existing capacities would be met.
"A security understanding has been established between the two countries and the smallest insecurity anywhere in Iraq will be considered as insecurity in Iran," the president said.
Referring to the presence of the foreigners in the region Iran's President stressed: "As much as we consider it useful to conduct negotiations between the countries of the region, we also do not consider the presence of foreign forces in the region to be beneficial to the region, and we consider the presence of the Americans to be a threat to security in the region. Americans are looking for their own interests, not the interests of the nations of the region."
Raisi also highlighted two countries' respect for each other's water rights, saying: "As we insist on Iran's exploitation of Arvand River, we respect this right for Iraqis as well."
"In the negotiations we had, it was decided to continue the water share negotiations between the two countries".
Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid, for his part said: "The purpose of this trip is to emphasize the strong historical relations between the two nations of Iran and Iraq and two friendly and neighboring countries. These relations are not limited to the relations between the institutions of the two countries."
The Iraqi President further stated: "We have many partnerships in all areas. Therefore, it is clear that the relations between the two countries are stable, strong and unchangeable. Iraqis will never forget the help of the Islamic Republic of Iran. "
"Iran helped us when we were oppressed by the former dictator and opened its borders to the Iraqis so that the Iraqi opposition could escape from the oppression of the Iraqi dictator. We will never forget Iran's support for Iraqi Kurds who were subjected to Saddam's chemical attack," stressed President Rashid.
He further said: "The last aid that the Islamic Republic gave to Iraq was helping the Iraqis to fight against ISIS terrorists."
