Palestinian prisoners in Nafha, southeastern desert in the occupied lands, have called for mass mobilization in support of Walid Daqqa, sick inmate suffering from serious health issues.
The prisoners issued a brief statement Sunday evening to affirm an online campaign under a specified hashtag starting at 10 a.m. on Monday.
The campaign came in solidarity with Walid Daqqa, who suffers from a serious health condition after serving more than 37 years in Israeli prison, the statement reads.
Walid Daqqa, a noted Palestinian intellectual and writer from Baqa al-Gharbia town in 1948 occupied Palestine (Israel), has been in detention since March 25, 1986.
He was diagnosed last year with myelofibrosis – a rare form of bone marrow cancer that disrupts the body’s normal production of blood cells.
A few days ago, he was transferred from the Ramla prison’s infirmary to Soroka Hospital after a decline in his health condition.
