Global condemnation has poured in following the latest Israeli onslaught and the rising Palestinian death toll in the West Bank city of Jenin.
Palestine’s Ministry of Health announced on Monday that 10 Palestinians were fatally shot by the Israeli occupation forces in Jenin, adding that at least 50 others sustained injuries.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned as “organized state terrorism” Israel’s air raids and ground attacks on the Jenin refugee camp.
"This heinous crime constitutes an extension of crimes and organized state terrorism practiced by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people," the OIC said in a statement.
The Jeddah-based grouping held Israel responsible for "the repercussions of this heinous crime that calls for investigation and accountability."
The OIC called on the UN Security Council to "take responsibility, enforce its relevant resolutions, put an end to this continuous Israeli terrorism, and provide protection for the Palestinian people."
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani censured the brutal attack on Jenin as a “criminal act and a clear example of state terrorism” and stressed that Palestinians will once again defeat the Zionist forces.
Kan’ani said in a press conference, “Crime is institutionalized in the nature of the Zionist regime. The latest crime in Jenin showed once again that peace and compromise cannot deter the regime’s war machine and that this regime is neither trustworthy nor seeking peace.”
Arab League’s Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned the “brutal military operation” in occupied Jenin in a tweet, saying, “The bombing of cities and camps by planes and the bulldozing of houses and roads is a collective punishment and revenge” that will lead to further escalations.
Aboul Gheit also appealed to “advocates of peace” around the world to intervene and stop the “criminal operation.”
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also strongly condemned the bloody Israeli military aggression against Jenin, calling for the intervention of international bodies to put an end to such violations.
In a statement, the ministry affirmed Egypt’s “complete rejection of the repeated Israeli attacks and incursions against Palestinian cities, resulting in innocent civilian casualties due to the use of excessive and indiscriminate force, and a flagrant violation of the provisions of international law and international legitimacy.”
In a statement, Jordanian foreign ministry spokesperson Sinan al-Majali lambasted the Israeli offensive, saying the escalation “constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and obligations of the [Israeli] occupation.”
The spokesperson called for immediate and effective action by the international community to stop the Israeli assault and provide protection for Palestinians in all occupied territories.
The Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement condemned in a statement the Israeli aggression against the Jenin refugee camp under the cover of “global and Arab silence,” which encourages the occupying regime to persist in its “dangerous terrorist acts.”
Hezbollah praised "the heroic response of the resistance factions and the brave camp residents who confront the occupation forces with courage and steadfastness, inflicting losses on its forces and war machine."
The statement added, “The Palestinian fighters have once again demonstrated their vigilance and their ability to stand up to the enemy’s arrogance and thwart its goals despite its use of the elite forces and its use of the most advanced and deadly weapons," pledging that the enemy will regret its acts.
The United Nations resident humanitarian coordinator in Palestine, Lynn Hastings, expressed alarm in a tweet as she called for access to the injured.
The political bureau of Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement strongly condemned the Israeli aggression on Jenin and affirmed its readiness to support and actively participate in the battle to defend Palestine and Islamic sanctities.
Stressing that the barbaric Zionist aggression caused the death and injury of dozens of Palestinians, Ansarullah said in a statement, “The Zionist enemy would not have dared persist in its crimes had it not been for the American cover and the complicity and silence of the international community.”
The Yemeni resistance group lauded the Palestinian response to the Zionist aggression and said, “We are confident that the enemy will fail in this aggression … and it will never succeed in quelling the spirit of resistance.”
"Our principled and firm position is that the Yemeni people stand by the Palestinian people and the Palestinian jihad and resistance movements," it added, calling on international organizations to take positions towards the Israeli crimes.
The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the attacks by the Israeli occupation forces on Jenin and called for an “immediate” halt to the brutal aggression.
In a statement, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the Israeli regime to reduce escalation and avoid measures that would foment tension and violence in the occupied Palestinian territories and lead to a deterioration of the situation and perpetuation of the cycle of violence.
The ministry also called on Israel to abide by the provisions of international law and Security Council resolutions.
According to Israeli military sources, more than 1,000 troops were involved in the Jenin attack, in which air fire was used by the occupation forces in the occupied West Bank for the first time since the Second Intifada.
Tensions have been running high across the occupied West Bank in recent months amid repeated Israeli raids on Palestinian towns and cities.
Nearly 190 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the start of this year, according to the Health Ministry. At least 25 Israelis have also been killed in separate attacks during the same period.
