Deputy of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein said participants in Ashura procession in London have scheduled to condemn the latest instance of Qur’an burning in Europe.
Sayyed Ala Ziaeddin said the Londoners marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) will use the opportunity on the Day of Ashura to hold copies of holy Qur’an and denounce the desecration of holy book of Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The decision has come following the latest instance of Qur’an burnings in Europe.
Also, the participants will hoist a massive 120-meter flag of Imam Hussein (AS) during the Ashura 2023 in along the Oxford Street in central London.
Lecturers in Ashura 2022 delivered speeches on the uprising by Imam Hussein (AS) and its objectives and also ways to protect holy Qur’an and Islam.
Shia Muslims across the globe mark the 9-10 of Muharram, mark the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and 72 of his companions while fighting the tyrant ruler of the time Yazid ibn Muawiyah back in 680 AD.
