He who stands by the right is the victorious side of a battle even if nobody understands his victory. That is why we can call Ashura the day for victory of Imam Hussein (AS). When entering the battle field, he was fully aware of his near death and that means steadfastness.
Sheikh Zain al-Abidin bin Abdul Rahman al-Jifri, Egypt-based Saudi scholar has hailed the third Shia Imam in his uprising against the oppression, defeating his ego and standing by the right is the victorious side in the battle field even if people do not understand the depth of his victory, reported TAqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said,” If we admit that victory amounts to steadfastness and the achievements following that, then Imam Hussein (AS) was the victorious side on the Day of Ashura.”
Top Sunni scholar added,” This aspect of steadfastness is what the stance of Imam Hussein was based upon.”
He rejected some Sunni views claiming that Imam Hussein (AS) was in pursuit of power.
” I’m fully aware that the enemies will not leave me alone even if I stay in Mecca and I do not like a war to break out in the holy city” Sheikh al-Jifri said alluding to a meeting of Imam Hussein and his companion ibn Abbas and added,” This is another aspect of steadfastness, to protect the religious sanctities.”
Sheikh Zain al-Abidin bin Abdul Rahman al-Jifri has delivered several speeches regarding commemoration of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), respecting his household and also warned against Wahhabism.
