Taghribnews (TNA) - Regional meetings boost unity, deepen intimacy among Muslims

Representative of the Leader in West Azerbaijan province highlighted deeper friendship and stronger ties as the achievements of the regional conferences in the world of Islam.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Sayyed Mahdi Qureishi, in his remarks at the opening ceremony of the 3^rd Regional Islamic Unity Conference lauded the coexistence of the different religions in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He hailed the city of Urmia, the venue of the conference for housing the most sacred sites for the Zoroastrians and also the world’s oldest church stressing that a manifest of coexistence in Iran’s northwestern city.

Friday prayer leader of the West Azerbaijan province commemorated the Shia, Sunni and Christian martyrs of the region calling that another instance of solidarity among the people.

He quoted the late founder of Islamic revolution and the Leader Ayatollah Khamenei stressing importance of unity as a religious duty for all Muslims.

Senior scholar praised the efficiency and achievements of such conferences in the Islamic nation by deepening the friendly ties among Muslims.

Organized by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought the third regional Islamic Unity Conference discusses “Islamic Cooperation to Achieve Common Values”.

Shia and Sunni scholars from Russia, Turkey, Syria, Georgia and Iraq will be attending the international conference scheduled to be held in the city of Urmia on August 9.

The second edition of the conference was held in the northern province of Golestan.

The regional conferences are in line with the Islamic Unity Conference annually held concurrent with the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
