“Shia, Sunni unity, key to glory of Arba’een march”, cleric

A manager of Islamic promotion in Kurdistan province said to build and boost solidarity between Shia and Sunni communities as part of the objectives of the Islamic organization in Iran.


Hujjat-ul-Islam Boroumand Raziani, hailed the massive cultural and religious measures across the country to boost unity between the Islamic denominations through Arba’een procession, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said,” Mawkebs, booths offering services for marching Arba’een pilgrims, are manifests of unity between Shia and Sunni communities in Kurdistan province.”
 
Iran’s Kurdistan province is a Sunni-dominated city that sees off pilgrims heading for Karbala on the western borders of the country.
 
He said 22 mawkebs are set on the border which are run by both Shias and Sunnis.
 
The cooperation of Shia and Sunni are also available in other cities en route to border naming Kermanshah, Ilam, Khouzestan.
 
The Sunni community in the city of Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan, has set one of the biggest mawkebs serving 9,000 people per day.
 
The great march of Arba’een is held ahead of the major procession that marks the 40th day after martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
 
Imam Hussein (AS) together with his 72 close companions and household members sacrificed their lives in a battle against the tyrant ruler of the time, Yazid ibn Muawiyah back in 680 AD.
