An Iranian reciter has won first prize in the international Qur’an recitation competition held in Indonesia.
Seyyed Mustafa Hosseini, who represented Iran in the contest, impressed the judges and the audience with his beautiful and melodious recitation of the Quran and received the highest score in the recitation category.
The competition, titled "Gema al-Quran" [echoes of Quran], was the third international edition of an annual event that aims to promote the Quran and its teachings among Muslims.
Held in Tanah Laut Regency, the competition was organized by Jam'iyatul Qurra'wal Huffazh, Nahdlatul Ulama and the Tanah Laut Regency Government.
The competition attracted participants from 10 countries, mostly from Southeast Asia.
The competition was held simultaneously with the ninth edition of a national contest that involved participants from different regions of Indonesia.
The closing ceremony of the three-day event was held on Thursday night as the winners were announced and awarded. The ceremony was attended by participants, officials, scholars, and Quran lovers.
