The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has called upon the member states and its humanitarian institutions to fast-track the delivery of urgent aid to the Palestinian people.
It condemned the “barbaric Israeli aggression” against Palestinian civilians in the occupied territories and urged for assistance for them in weathering through humanitarian disaster, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The OIC General Secretariat expressed concern over the deep pain and distress the tragic events going on in Palestine and condemned Israeli atrocities that led to thousands of Palestinians being killed, injured, or unaccounted for under rubble.
It also denounced the extensive destruction to hundreds of houses and critical infrastructure, leaving Gaza Strip without access to water, electricity, fuel, and medicines and the Palestinian people have been internally displaced to avoid arbitrary strikes.
The General Secretariat commends the important role played by Member States in providing vital supplies, including food, medical, and essential materials, and the response to the immediate needs to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people during this humanitarian ordeal.
It expressed hope that the member states will continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people by providing maximum assistance to alleviate the impact of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe.
The Israeli regime has been bombarding Gaza since October 7, when fighters from the Gaza Strip-based resistance groups launched a large-scale operation against the occupying entity in response to its intensified crimes against the Palestinian people.
More than 7,400 Palestinians, mainly women and children, have lost their lives and over 20,000 injured in three weeks of most brutal Israeli attacks against the besieged Gaza Strip.
