Iran’s Foreign Ministry has denounced an Israeli extremist minister threatening to use nuclear bomb after a month of most brutal strikes against the besieged Gaza Strip.
"The boundless brutality of the Zionist regime against the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza in recent days, with today's threat by the cabinet minister of the mentioned regime to use a nuclear bomb, is an alarm for the whole world," the ministry's spokesman Nasser Kan'ani said in an early Monday post on X social media platform.
"The world should immediately stand up against this fascist and racist regime and hold its supporters accountable," the spokesman added.
Kan'ani's reaction came after earlier on Sunday, Israeli heritage minister Amichai Eliyahu said in an interview that deployment of the unconventional weapon against the coastal territory was "one of the possibilities."
Asked about the fate of the Palestinian families in Gaza after nuking the strip, he said, "They can go to Ireland or deserts."
Eliyahu added that allowing any humanitarian aid into Gaza was wrong, claiming, "There is no such thing as uninvolved civilians in Gaza." He also went as far as calling the innocent civilian population in Gaza "Nazis."
His remarks came amid a campaign of unprecedented bombardment that Israel has been waging against Gaza since October 7, when the Palestinian territory's resistance groups launched Operation al-Aqsa Storm in the occupied territories in response to the regime's intensified crimes against Palestinians.
The death toll from Israel’s genocidal attacks has exceeded 9,700, while more than 26,000 people, mostly women, children and the elderly, have been wounded.
The regime has also cut off the flow of basic supplies, such as water, electricity, medicines, and fuel, to one of the world's most densely-populated territories that houses over two million Palestinians.
Responding to Eliyahu's remarks, the Gaza-based Hamas resistance movement denounced his comments as an expression of Nazism.
"The statement by Eliyahu that throwing a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip is one of the solutions did not come out of nowhere, but rather is an expression of the level of decadence, Nazism, and sadism that is taking place in the corridors and minds of this occupying entity,” Hamas said in a press release.
It added that the illegal entity is founded on killing and genocide, and treats others as animals.
“International silence or inaction would encourage these murderous terrorists to continue the massacre of the century and the war of extermination against our people,” the press release said, adding, “It will turn the entire region into a volcano of flames that threatens the region and the world."
