The League of Arab states has hailed the Danish parliament for passing the bill that bans any desecration of the religious scripts.
The international Arab organization has issued a statement to praise the new vote that prohibits sacrilege of the religious texts including holy Qur’an, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The League of Arab states emphasized,” The responsible measure by Danish parliament would create an ambiance of mutual confidence, understanding, patience and openness towards each other.”
The statement continued,” The secretariat of the Arab League would welcome the responsible decision and stressed the resolution by its ministers condemning any provocation and religious hatred.”
Earlier the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) had issued a statement to praise the move by Danish MPs calling that a key measure.
He added that the voting by Denmark comes following controversial Qur’an burning incidents in some European countries. The OIC Secretary General added that the new bill will effectually promote efforts against desecration of Qur’an and other religious scriptures as well as hate speech.
Danish Parliament has passed a draft resolution criminalizing sacrilege of the holy books with 94 votes in favor to 77 votes against.
