Iran’s Foreign Ministry says the Wednesday terrorist attack in Kerman shows the height of wickedness in enemies of the Islamic Republic.
In its statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry strongly condemned the attacks that took place while crowds of people were marking the fourth martyrdom anniversary of top general Qassem Soleimani in the southeastern city of Kerman.
This terrorist crime shows the height of the wickedness of the enemies of the Iranian nation, as well as their resort to criminal methods in the false hope of pulling themselves out of a self-made crisis they are plagued in, the statement said.
It added that “resorting to such evil crimes against Iranian citizens, men, women and children will further strengthen the nation’s bond with the ideals of Martyr Soleimani”, and will intensify people’s unity and increase their hatred towards the enemies of the Islamic Iran.
The ministry said that it will do its outmost efforts, in cooperation with relevant bodies, to prosecute the perpetrators of this “abhorrent terrorist attack” and their accomplices.
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf made similar comments as he reacted to the attacks which he called an “inhumane” act by the enemies, showing their fear of the Iranian people’s strong presence aimed at defending the ideals of the Islamic Republic.
Ghalibaf said that such desperate measures will not affect the determination of the Iranian people to remain loyal to their “revolutionary stances”.
Religious figures also denounced the attacks that left nearly 103 people killed and scores more wounded after two explosions took place in the route along with the Martyrs Cemetery in Kerman.
Sunni clerics in North Khorasan Province issued a statement, calling on Iranian security and judicial bodies to firmly deal with the perpetrators of the blasts.
Prominent Iranian Sunni leader and the Friday prayer leader of Sunnis Makki Mosque in Zahedan, Molavi Abdul Hamid, also strongly condemned the terrorist attack, describing it as shocking.
