The Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has approved amnesty and commuting the punishment for more than 2,800 convicts.

The announcement came on the occasion of the Islamic celebration, Eid al-Mab’ath which marks the beginning of prophethood of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
 
The proposal was suggested by the Iranian Judiciary Chief Gholmhossein Mohseni-Ejei to the Leader.
 
Last year also, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, agreed to pardon or commute the sentences of tens of thousands of convicts.
