The chief commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says Iran believes in the final victory of the Palestinian resistance in confrontation with Israeli genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.
"Today, we're witnessing the enemies' crimes in Palestine," Major General Hossein Salami said during an event in the north-central holy city of Qom on Saturday. "They are seeking to attain victory for themselves by killing children, women, and defenseless people," he added.
However, through their unity and resistance, the people of Gaza announced to the world that "coexistence with the Zionist regime is not possible," the commander said.
"We believe in these dear people's victory, and know that divine victory is with the devoted people, who do not give up resistance in this lopsided war."
The Israeli regime launched the war on October 7, 2023 following al-Aqsa Storm, a surprise operation staged by Gaza's resistance movements, during which hundreds were taken captive.
So far, nearly 30,000 people, mostly women and children have died in the military onslaught that enjoys unreserved political and military support on the part of the United States, Tel Aviv's main benefactor.
The territory's resistance groups have, however, vowed to continue confronting the invading regime and refrain from releasing the captives unless in the case of complete cessation of the aggression.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the commander asserted that the country's people were to create a "glorious political epic" by staging optimal participation in upcoming elections.
"The nation will once again serve the enemy with a hefty punch in the mouth, and will show that they will not accord the least value to the enemy's demand," he said.
"The enemies are trying to dissuade the people from turning up before the ballot boxes," Salami said. "But the nation knows that this is a political battle between us and our enemies, who are after our elimination and seek to separate us from Islam and destroy our will," the commander asserted.
"Iran's enemies will suffer defeat in the political battle too."
Iran is gearing up for parliamentary and Assembly of Experts’ elections, which are slated to be held on March 1.
On Sunday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called for massive turnout in the upcoming polls, saying that the path of reform passed through elections.
Ayatollah Khamenei said everyone had to participate in the elections, describing the event as “the main pillar of the Islamic Republic.”
