The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated the Iranian people's participation in the elections, calling it a civilizational endeavor.
Planting saplings on Tuesday to observe the nationwide occasion of Natural Resources Week, Ayatollah Khamenei said: "With their presence, the Iranian nation fulfilled both a social and civilizational duty and a did a jihad."
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the enemies' attempts during the year to discourage the people from going to the polls in the recent elections and stated: "For about a year, the enemies of the Iranian nation and the enemies of Islamic Iran and the enemies of the Islamic Republic, from all over the world, tried to dissuade the people from participating in the elections and make the elections lackluster, but the people countered the enemy's move and made a great and epic move and it was a jihad."
Ayatollah Khamenei also appreciated all those who contributed to the observation of the elections.
He also pointed to the flood inundated the southern parts of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeastern Iran, and emphasized the continuation of the aid, both governmental and non-governmental, to the flood-hit areas.
The Supreme Leader called on those who have the ability to offer help to step in to assist the flood-hit area of the country.
