TNA - Beirut - Sheikh Afif Nabulsi considered that the Patriarch Al-Ra’i’s latest statement about Syria and the Resistance, are logical and reflect a deep understanding of the overall circumstances, facts and events that Lebanon and Syria are going through.
"We believe that such an understanding, express the concerns and challenges that are facing the unity, independence and sovereignty of Lebanese and Syrian peoples," he said.
During his meeting with Maronite Archbishop of Sidon and Deir El Kamar Elias Nassar, Sheikh Nabulsi stressed that the resistance in Lebanon was a decision of the Lebanese people and by his will and his need for freedom, security and stability after many years of Israeli occupation, and of humiliating citizens and devastating the formula of coexistence and fraternity among the Lebanese, adding that the Resistance was a reaction to the challenges imposed by “Israel” on the Lebanese in politics, sociology, geography, identity and belonging and so on.
In the other hand, His Eminence saw that the path of reform, which the Syrian leadership is passing through, "is the most viable and more appropriate way for political and social stability and security in Syria, but there is those who do not want that, but insist to push for the escalation and tension”. Asserting that "The Patriarch expressed his concerns, so that Syria cross to the safe side and the Syrian citizen enjoys the freedoms and rights, protected away from the tensions and conflicts that is seeking to sabotage to divide Syria".
