Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has congratulated his Muslim counterparts on advent of Eid al-Fitr as the holy month of Ramadan is ending.
Amirabdollahian, in separate messages sent on Sunday, expressed hope that the Eid al-Fitr occasion serves as an opportunity for further cooperation among Muslim countries to boost security and tranquility, and eliminate cruelty in the world, especially regarding the Palestinian people.
Iran will celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the “festival of breaking the fast”, this coming Wednesday. Saudi Arabia and many more Muslim countries are expected to celebrate the occasion on the same day as well.
The first day of Eid al-Fitr is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, which marks the start of Shawwal, the tenth month on the Islamic lunar calendar.
Muslims begin the day with communal Eid al-Fitr prayer and continue with festivities and family gatherings.
