The head of Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta Department has warned against propagation of Islamophobia by groups fearing spread of Islam and stressed importance of fighting anti-Islam campaigns.
Ali Omar Al-Farouq, said Islamophobia is increasingly being propagated by a minority of individuals who fear the spread of Islam, particularly in this era of rapid technological advancement in social media.
"These groups attempt to influence those interested in embracing Islam by spreading negative narratives, suggesting that Islam promotes violence and extremism. They also claim that Islam does not advocate unity and peace."
Ali Omar said that anyone who studies how Muslims lived in society during the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would realize that what they are propagating is completely contrary to Islamic teachings.
He said the Islamic state established during the time of the Prophet was based on security and coexistence among people of various religions who lived peacefully, as evidenced by the signing of the Madinah Charter.
On the 2024 Asian Ulama Council meeting which was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Ali Omar said the event has become a key platform for discussing issues relevant to the Muslim community in this era.
The event was organized by the Office of the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) in collaboration with the MWL. - BERNAMA
