Iranian FM Amir-Abdollahian laid to rest in Shah Abdul Azim shrine

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has been laid to rest in the holy shrine of Hazrat Abdul Azim in a massive funeral procession held in southern Tehran.


Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was martyred together with President Ebrahim Raeisi heading a delegation of officials in a helicopter crash in northwest Azarbaijan province on Sunday.
 
A number of officials as well as political and religious figures including the interim president Mohammad Mokhber, interim Foreign Minister Ali Baqeri Kani and former head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Ali Akbar Salehi attended the funeral procession.
 
A massive procession was simultanously held in Mashhad, where the people paid tribute to President Ebrahim Raeisi.
 
A day earlier, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei prayed over the bodies of those martyred in helicopter crash.
 
A helicopter carrying President Raeisi and a delegation of officials crashed in a mountainous area in East Azarbaijan Province killing all people on board including the Friday prayer leader of Tabriz and governor of East Azarbaijan.
