Yemeni armed forces hit British destroyer, two Israel-bound commercial vessels

10 Jun 2024 - 9:07

Yemeni armed forces have launched new operations targeting a British destroyer and two commercial vessels bound for the Israeli-occupied territories.

The Yemeni military spokesman, Yahya Saree, announced in a statement on Sunday that the forces targeted the HMS Diamond in the Red Sea with a number of ballistic missiles, emphasizing that the strike was “accurate.”

The statement, however, did not say whether the retaliatory attack had caused any damage.

Yahya Saree further noted that the country’s naval forces had also attacked two commercial vessels which it identified as the Norderney and Tavvishi.

The statement said the Tavvishi – which was in the Arabian Sea – and the Norderney had both been hit, and that a fire broke out on the Norderney.

Saree, once again, stressed continuation of the attacks against US-British aggressions and the operations against ships that violate the ban on access to the Israeli-occupied lands.

He vowed that the operations by Yemeni armed forces will continue until an end to the Israeli onslaughts against Palestinians and also lifting of the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.
