Iranians across the country have held congregational prayer on Monday as part of ceremonies to mark Eid al-Adha, also known as Eid of sacrifice.

In the capital Tehran, the Eid prayer was led by Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohammad Javad Haj Ali Akbari, the head of the Friday Prayer Policy Council at Tehran University, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Iran and eight other countries have declared Monday as Eid al-Adha with worshipers beginning the day with congregational prayer.
 
Eid al-Adha is marked on tenth of Dhu al-Hijja when Hajj pilgrims perform rituals in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
 
Those who do not make it to perform Hajj pilgrimage attend the congregational prayer and sacrifice a sheep and donate the flesh to the poor.
 
Praying, doing charity works, family gatherings and visiting the relatives are other parts of the major Islamic celebration.
