Over 8,500 Israeli soldiers seek psychological treatment since Oct. 7

18 Jun 2024 - 9:03

With the Israeli genocidal war against the Gaza Strip in its ninth month now, an increasing number of Israeli soldiers are suffering the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder caused by the war.

An official Israeli data has revealed that 8,663 Israeli soldiers have sought psychological and physical treatment at rehabilitation departments since the regime began its genocidal war on the besieged Gaza Strip on October 7.

The report comes a week after an Israeli soldier killed himself after being ordered to return to military service in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier the Israeli media reported that some ten officers and soldiers have committed suicide, several of them during the battles in the settlements near Gaza.

In mid-March, the Israeli army acknowledged facing its most significant mental health crisis since 1973, stemming from fighting with the Palestinian Resistance groups in the Gaza Strip since the Al-Aqsa Flood operation on October 7.

Reports from Israel indicate a severe shortage of soldiers in the reserve forces, prompting the Israeli army to seek volunteers for combat in Gaza.

The Israeli army has reported 3,763 soldiers wounded since the war began on October 7, with 1,902 injuries occurring since the start of ground battles on October 27.

The official death toll for the Israeli army stands at 646 soldiers and officers since the war began, including 294 killed in ground battles in Gaza.

However, Israeli hospitals and media have suggested that the actual number of casualties is underreported by regime officials.
