3 Jul 2024 - 10:19

Iran’s presidential candidates have attended the second of two debates which centered on a host of issues related to the economic situation in the country including sanctions, inflation and their foreign policy priorities.

Former nuclear negotiation chief Saeed Jalili and former health minister Masoud Pezeshkian held the second debates on Tuesday night ahead of the runoff vote on Friday July 5.

Saeed Jalili in part of his remarks addressed the Iranian nation saying the choice is between returning to the 8 years of country’s stagnation or continuing with Martyr Raeisi in reviving the factories.

Masoud Pezeshkian said, as part of his remarks on import of cars to the country, that if competitions are opened up for cars to be imported, then the market will regulate itself and there is no need for the president to intervene.

Campaigning for the runoff presidential elections began on Sunday, a day after the results for the first round of the election were announced that the two headed for runoff.

People will cast their ballots for the runoff election which is scheduled to be held on Friday July 5.
