Iran, Russia Stress Boosting Bilateral Ties

 The Iranian Acting President met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday on the sidelines of the 24th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). In this meeting, the two sides stressed boosting bilateral ties in all fields.


In the SCO meeting, Mokhber proposed the creation of a network of joint free zones at the level of the organization and established economic deals such as preferential and free trade agreements.

He stated that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization offers great opportunities for cooperation in the fields of trade, production, energy, transportation, agriculture, customs, and telecommunications, as well as the development of technology which should be used for the benefit and the welfare of nations and the establishment of sustainable peace in the region and around the world.
Referring to the expanding cooperation between Iran and Russia, especially in the economic, commercial, transportation and energy sectors, Iran's acting president emphasized the need to speed up the completion of the legal foundations of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries and its approval and implementation.
In this meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the relationship between the two countries friendly, unbreakable, and unchangeable, and while expressing his satisfaction with the increase in the level of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economic and commercial sectors, he considered the signing of the free trade agreement between Iran and Eurasia as an important step toward the further development of these cooperations and a suitable ground for benefiting more from the interactions with the member countries of this union.
Referring to the common positions of the two countries on regional and international issues, including efforts to form a multipolar world, the Russian president emphasized Moscow's support for the proposal of Iran joining the Eurasian Union as an observer member.
Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, hosts the 24th SCO summit on July 4 and 5.
