Israeli strike on Damascus military sites leaves one Syrian soldier dead

14 Jul 2024 - 15:45

One Syrian soldier has been killed and three others wounded as Israeli regime warplanes target the military sites and one residential building near Damascus.

Syria’s official news agency SANA, citing a military source, reported that the Israeli aerial assault took place after midnight Sunday and targeted military sites and a house in the Kafr Sousa neighborhood.

“The Israeli enemy carried out an aerial aggression from the direction of occupied Syrian Golan, while our Syrian Arab Army’s air defense systems intercepted the missiles launched by the Israeli enemy and downed some of them,” the military source said in a statement.

The Israeli airstrike against the crisis-hit Arab nation comes amid the regime’s bloody onslaught against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on the coastal territory, including hospitals, residences, and houses of worship, since Palestinian resistance movements launched their surprise attack, dubbed Operation al-Aqsa Storm, against the regime on October 7.

At least 38,443 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed while another 88,481 individuals have sustained injuries.

Israel frequently targets military positions inside Syria, especially those of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah which has played a key role in helping the Syrian army in its fight against foreign-backed terrorists.
